As we go through the year, let us focus on the agenda God had in mind from the foundations of the earth. Once that is our focus, we live our lives on this earth with meaning and purpose. Because of this agenda, we will be talking about staying connected today.
” And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.” –Genesis 1:11-12
I believe the scripture we often don’t bother reading is the book of Genesis and the book of Revelations. If we do read the book of Genesis we must focus our attention on the things pertaining to the patriarchs. I believe it is good and important to look at the creation account as this lets us know the idea, plans, directions, and other important things that concern our life on this earth. The first three chapters of Genesis tell us a lot about the life we live but we haven’t spent much time on those scriptures for the Holy Spirit to reveal the hidden mysteries to us.
In the above scripture we notice something marvelous, we see God creating the herbs of the field and the trees. As we look at this scripture we see how God created things. When God wanted to create the plants, He didn’t speak to the sky, but rather, He spoke to the earth, commanded, and demanded that it bring forth grass and the grass after its kind. When you get a chance read the account of creation and you will see that whenever God wanted something, He spoke to specific things and demanded of it. After speaking to the earth, the herbs, grass, plants, and others came up bearing fruit also of their own kind. Since the grass is from the earth, they are always connected to the earth. This is why you have never seen a tree that is not in the soil. This tells us something fascinating, that is to say, whatever your source is, you must stay connected to it. This also reveals to us the idea of death, if the tree is disconnected from the earth (let’s call it soil), it immediately starts to die unless it is put back in the soil and made for it to connect with it. We have to always stay connected to our source. In the next blog, I will be discussing how this also relates to mankind.
We are always praying and asking God for many things but we are never ready to stay connected to Him. Being that God is our source, we have to always stay connected to Him. I found something interesting about trees and other living things but let us focus on trees per se. Have you noticed that trees do not pray to ask to be nourished? They do not ask the soil to provide them with water also. Now a plant has both a xylem and phloem cell, these link to the root. The root connects the plant to the soil. The nutrients the plant needs are found in the soil. All that the plant needs are in the soil. The phloem has exchanges with the soil, constantly taking and giving between the soil and the plant. Since there is constant communication there is no prayer. Prayer is a normal thing between the plant and its source and not only on special occasions.
Notice, since the plant came from the soil, the soil upholds and sustains it with nutrients so that the plant can fulfill its purpose. The plant grows, flourishes, and bears fruit thereby fulfilling its purpose. The plant does not need to go about working to make it flourish because once it stays connected to the source, it will forever flourish.
What is our source as human beings then? Are we connected to our source or are we disconnected from it?
